The art of proportion has the power to compliment the surrounding environment if done correctly. The recommendations listed below are meant to serve as guidelines for those unsure which pillow size dimension would best compliment the area of your choosing. When looking for pillows to place in average dining room chairs, we recommend sticking to the 16x16 sizes. However, if your dining room chairs are on the larger side then of course an 18x18 would be a more suitable fit. Other things a 16x16 is suitable for would be benches, a small armchair, and the bedding throw on a twin. For a standard armchair one should lean more towards the 18x18, which also works for benches, twin, full, and queen beds like so.

For a standard sofa you will want a 20x20, anything larger may look out of place and appear to stand taller than the back of the couch. However, for a much larger couch or one that is more on the modern side a 22x22 will fit in nicely. For a large club chair you could get either a 20x20 or a 22x22, we recommend measuring the opening in your chair to decide which would be the best fit.

If you have a larger sofa that has more than the average three sections a 24x24 is the recommended size. The 24x24, or the so-called Euro Sham, is the average throw for a bed. One for a twin, two on a full/queen, and 3 for a king bed. Given their size these could also double as casual floor cushions.

If you want a pillow centered on a standard sized couch, depending on how wide the sections are, a 12x24 would be lovely. The same size can also be used as a decorative touch to a full or queen bed. If you want something a tad larger a 14x30 also works for the same things. However, for a larger sofa or a King bed you should look at the 16x30 pillows.
